Salmon Patties Like I Remember; or at least, very close. By the way, do you have certain foods from childhood that just stick in your mind? Incidentally, that’s what I have here. Furthermore, these are the real “comfort foods,” because of the memories they bring back!
Consequently, there are three different fish dishes I recall: Salmon Patties, Codfish Gravy and the Fried Fish dinners. Incidentally, the fried fish were at dinners put on by the Odd Fellow members in Britton, Michigan. By the way, those guys knew how to fry fish! Therefore, I always stuffed myself. However, I don’t know what kind of fish they were, but they were small. Subsequently, the number 9 sticks in my mind! Like I said, I stuffed myself. Moreover, they also made the most delicious cole slaw. Consequently, that’s where I learned that cabbage came in red! Meanwhile, as a little kid, I was fascinated!
Salmon Patties Recipe
Salmon, 1 15 oz can, drained
Eggs, 2
Cornmeal, 1/3 cup. (Or cracker crumbs or bread crumbs)
Flour, 1 Tablespoon
Onion, 1 small, chopped
Salt, to taste
Pepper, to taste
Oil, for the pan (Most recommend Olive Oil)
By the way, optional vegetables can be added; red pepper or shredded carrots. Therefore, use your imagination and see what’s in the garden.
Instructions for Salmon Patties:
First, mix all of the above ingredients together, except the cooking oil. Then heat the oil in your chosen pan. Divide the mixture into six balls and then flatten them. Cook each pattie 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they are a crisp and golden brown! Finally, serve with your favorite sauce. Moreover, you have tons of choices there!
